Kupuna o Kohala: Growing up on the plantation

Roland talks with a few of the kupuna (grandparents) of Kohala that grew up during the time that the sugar plantations were the dominant industry in Hawaii.
They were only children back then and the stories that they share about growing up during that time are priceless treasures.
Archival footage of life back then adds another dimension as the histories that have been handed down now have visual references.
The lives and experiences of our ancestors are crucial to our history and should be remembered if we expect to retain a connection to our past.
