Was it a Leap Forward or Backwards for China?

1958 mein Mao Zedong ne launch kiya tha Great Leap Forward — ek ambitious plan jiska goal tha China ko jaldi se industrial superpower banana aur steel production mein Britain ko peeche chhodna.

Gaon ko “communes” mein convert kiya gaya, private farming almost khatam ho gayi, aur logon ko farming chhod kar steel production mein laga diya gaya. Har jagah backyard furnaces lag gaye — lekin jo steel bana, wo mostly bekaar tha.

Is beech crop production gir gaya. Local officials ne false production reports bheji. Policies ground reality se disconnect ho gayi. Result? Modern history ka sabse bada man-made famine. Estimates ke mutabik, millions log bhookh se mar gaye.

Great Leap Forward ek reminder hai:
Economy slogans se nahi chalti.
Data manipulation aur unrealistic targets ka result disaster ho sakta hai.

History sirf past nahi hoti — ek warning bhi hoti hai.
