Make Your Own Colour Easter Signs

Our DIY Expert Kayleigh has really nailed it with her colourfully painted signs for a children’s Easter egg hunt, all crafted and from reclaimed pallet wood! They're the perfect way to point little ones towards getting a basketful of fun. Watch her video for a step-by-step guide on how you can make your own eye-catching signs.

Step one 

Choose your pallet wood, like everything they come in all shapes and sizes and that's fine, they don't need to be the same. In fact, it makes it more interesting!

Step two

Mark out where you want to cut the pallet wood in the shape you want for your signs. I've done a simple arrow on one side. 

Step three

Once cut, sand down the pallet wood with a 120-grit sandpaper, making sure the wood is smooth. 

Step four

Before painting I would advise sealing the wood with some Frenchic Finishing Coat or Frenchic Tuff Topcoat. Pallet wood isn’t treated so this will allow for a better finish. I gave each side two coats of paint.

Step five

Once the finishing coat has dried, it's time to paint. I've chosen light and bright colours to fit in with the easter theme. All paint I have used is from the Al Fresco range so these signs can stay outside the whole of the Easter (and beyond if you feel like it!)

Step six

Base layer dry? Now for the fun part! Paint on your sign messages and add some Easter bunnies or eggs in whatever colours you fancy. And if you’ve got some leftover Alfresco paint, it’s perfect way to use it up!

Step seven

For extra protection add some more Finishing Coat to the signs. 

Step Eight

Buy some chocolate eggs and let the fun begin. But try not to eat them all before Easter - like me!
