Building an Outboard Engine Pod Gen II (Gen I Tested to 250HP) P2. Video DaintreeJD #howto #buildHow to build a fiber glass Outboard Engine Pod to suit my Custom built cruiser, Generation I pod design was very simmiler in that i used 18mm Ply however with this pod I decided to laminate 2x 9mm ply on sides forward section and bottom while the Transom has 3 lamination's of 9mm bringing it to 27mm of lamination which I has far more strength than a single piece of plywood. next phase after fully fiber glassed inside is to put 2x 5x1 braces which will extend from the transom to the forward section of the pod and past by approximately 18 inches so that i can get fastenings into the original transom and against the main hull of the vessel, these will take a great amount of sideways pressure further supporting the pod in extreme turning conditions. Glue used has been Epoxy Resin only.
