Tesla's Solution for Finding Skilled Giga Berlin Workers

A lot of workers are required for electric car production at Tesla Giga Berlin. Politicians are confident, the economy skeptical that Tesla will easily find skilled workers. The keyword here is "easily."

In the summer of 2021, the US electric car manufacturer Tesla plans to start producing vehicles at its Grünheide site near Berlin. Around 500,000 vehicles a year are expected to roll off the assembly line, and around 12,000 jobs are planned. The regional Federal Employment Agency and the US company want to work closely together to attract skilled workers to the planned factory. "That is developing very well," said State Secretary Hendrik Fischer on Wednesday in the economic committee. Both sides had agreed on specific work steps with a precise schedule, and there are now also extra offices in which the lead employment agency in Frankfurt (Oder) can help with the search for skilled workers.

Berlin.de reports that no one knows the exact number of workers Tesla is seeking for Giga Berlin to produce electric vehicles starting with the Model Y.

The State Secretary was initially unable to answer the question of exactly how many workers Tesla needed in which area. We are looking for managers, skilled workers, and engineers, among others. "As a country, we will not be able to make any special offers in the education and training sector exclusively for Tesla," emphasized Fischer in the committee. Wait for the development and be in close contact with the East Brandenburg Chamber of Commerce and Industry (IHK).

Finding skilled workers for Tesla will not be easy. With a view to the settlement of Tesla, a paper by the Chamber of Industry and Commerce on “educational infrastructure” states that meeting the planned need for skilled workers will present the US company with a “great challenge."

According to economic experts in Germany and reported by Berlin.de, expansion of the infrastructure necessary to secure skilled workers
According to the Chamber of Industry and Commerce, investments in education and social issues, such as the expansion of childcare and school infrastructure, are prerequisites for successfully securing skilled workers. “Among other things, the vocational schools must be prepared. Rooms, specialist teachers, laboratories and workshops are needed for dual training, ”explained Michael Völker, head of the training and further education division at the IHK Ostbrandenburg.

Also, Tesla Giga Berlin could spur other major construction projects.

Tesla's solution is to focus on logistics to attract more workers. Watch my previous report on the subject here: https://youtu.be/ctcs5Gh6j7E
