Several artists who performed at Eric Clapton's 2019 Crossroads Guitar Festivals have joined Turn Up For Recovery as Ambassadors. They believe music has the power to share hope, heal and change perceptions and they want to help us spread the awareness of recovery through music. Brazilian guitarist Daniel Santiago, who made his first Crossroads Festival appearance last year, is one of them.
“One of the most special moments in my life was having the opportunity to be part of the Crossroads Guitar festival, invited by of one of my greatest idols, Mr. Eric Clapton," said Daniel.
"I was very honoured to be part of such a special concert that connects people from all over the world, coming together helping people to overcome addiction. For me, this is about spreading love. And now I’m very honoured to have been invited by Mrs. Melia Clapton to be one of ambassadors of Turn Up For Recovery.”
Daniel began studying music as a child and was influenced by Jazz, Classical, Rock, MPB, and Choro. At 19, he founded his first band the Brasilia-Brasil Trio. Their first album, Abre Alas, was released in 2001. In the studio, he has collaborated with Lee Ritenour, John Paul Jones, Cassandra Wilson and Didier Lockwood to name a few. Daniel also tours regularly. His first solo album, On The Way, came out in 2006. His most recent studio effort is Simbiose, a collaboration with jazz guitarist Pedro Martins.

ABOUT TURN UP FOR RECOVERY
Turn up for Recovery is a charitable movement aiming to raise awareness of abstinence-based recovery, tackle the stigma of addiction and help make treatment affordable to people struggling with alcohol and drug addiction.
Melia Clapton started TUFR because she wanted to tackle the stigma around addiction and alcoholism and raise awareness about the power of abstinence based recovery. It’s a topic very close to her heart, having supported family members throughout their recovery. Her vision is for an inclusive community of artists, music lovers and those affected by addiction coming together to have a good time, talk about recovery and raise money for others to get the help that they need at Crossroads Centre Antigua. Melia announced the movement in September 2019 during Eric Clapton’s Crossroads Guitar Festival. It has been gaining momentum ever since.
