This video shows a demonstration on how to do 'on top double stitches' or 'french-seams' to decorate and reinforce the edge of the leather covers. For this demonstration, I am using a 'single needle, flat bed, walking-feet, industrial sewing machine(my old pfaff 1245- 706).
Needless to say that it would be advisable to use a 'twin needle sewing machine' to do the 'french stitches'.
'Velcro' is a very useful material which helps in an easy way to keep in place the desired patterns.
The same as a taylor uses thread for basting, an upholsterer uses staples to baste the pieces to be sewn...thin stationery staples for thin materials and industrial staples for heavier materials.
