Making A Darkroom Print

Come along with me as I take show you my working process to get from a film negative to a stunning black and white photograph.

'Long's Peak' was photographed in Rocky Mountain National Park in the summer of 2017. I spent some time with the negative in a few printing sessions before reaching the desired look and mood of the final print. The setting sun lit the valley below in a way that glowed. It caught my eye immediately and the thought of having such a majestic mountain in the background merely added to this special scene.

Ansel Adams said once that all scenes in nature are, 'found objects'. And I would have to agree. There is nothing I can do to add to the elegant beauty of nature. All I can do is feverishly search for these beautiful scenes in the wild and hope that I can present them in a way that gives justice to their beauty.
