Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth gives update on US Iran ceasefire

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth confirmed on Tuesday that the fragile ceasefire between Iran and the U.S., which has held for more than three weeks, remains intact, despite a new exchange of fire in the Strait of Hormuz, as Washington moves to restore the free flow of commerce and protect commercial shipping.

"No, the ceasefire is not over," Hegseth told reporters. "Ultimately, this is a separate and distinct project, and we expected there would be some churn at the beginning, which happened, and we said we would defend it, defend aggressively, and we absolutely have."
