In Depth Look at the HP Prime - RPN

In this video I will look at RPN, Reverse Polish Notation, in a little more detail, specifically using the HP Prime calculator. The Prime is not primarily an RPN calculator, it uses a Textbook style entry system, however it does have two other entry options: algebraic and RPN.

It follows on from Hewlett-Packard's long history of RPN calculators but implements RPN in a different way. Most of HP's traditional RPN calculators have a 4 level stack (consisting of X, Y, Z, and T registers) the Prime allows you to enter many more numbers onto the stack. Other RPN calculators typically have buttons that allow you to manipulate the stack to facilitate calculations, the Prime lacks these buttons, making its implementation of RPN somewhat less powerful.
