Best Filler for Holes, Cracks Rock Hard - Wood, Plaster, Tile, Concrete
Shows Durham's permanently adheres to wood, plaster, stone and tile. It does not shrink. It can be sanded, painted, colored, sawed and chiseled. Durham's fills large holes and cracks, or fixes larger voids. There’s no strong odors, no toxic chemicals, and it is non-flammable.
Don’t use for structural strength or where there is movement of expansion or contraction like between floor boards.
It sets-up very quickly. Fill the hole completely until the putty bounces back. It will expand slightly as it sets, but doesn’t shrink.
Remember, Durham’s is rock hard. It is difficult to sand. Smooth it out before it dries. Drying time depends on the size of the repair, amount used, temperature and humidity.
Durham's holds up in wet weather if it is kept painted.
It will absorb moisture. It will take-on moisture from underneath decks and porch floors, condensation within walls, and humid air in showers or bathrooms, which will prevent Durham's from adhering.
Durham's is formulated to fill holes, so do not spread it thinly over large smooth areas.
Color Durham's with powdered colorants before mixing it with water. Do not use oil-base products because of the water mix.
It can be painted with water-based or oil-based paints after it has dried.
Durham's does not absorb stain well.
Patch voids over ¼ inch deep in layers and let the putty dry overnight before applying the next layer because the water putty at the bottom may remain damp for days.
Durham’s is a gypsum-based filler powder mixed with water for great bonding strength.
