The Legends of the Jews: The Creation of the World (The Fifth Day)

There was a line that I skipped in the reading that I caught in editing:
“the amount assigned to each of the pious will be in proportion to his deserts”

In this passage, “deserts” is defined as:

A deserving; that which gives a right to reward or demands, or which renders liable to punishment; merit or demerit; that which entitles to a recompense of equal to the offense; good conferred, or evil done, which merits an equivalent return.

This got me thinking; if a huge part of the reward is land, could some of these deserts have once been our deserts, our reward?

Brings a new sense to the term “Desert Dwellers” or how we think about “Desert Tribes”
