What was the true reason behind the fans love?
There are several reasons, of course. Great storytelling, memorable characters, terrific actors...
Though the showrunners love to call attention to a very non-obvious reason, which is the Money Heist symbolism, or more specifically -
the Dali masks and red jumpsuits.
They simply stick in people’s minds!
According to what the Professor said in season 1, his team's actions are all about “the resistance, indignation and skepticism towards the system”, right?
Well, pretty similar philosophy to the Spanish artist Salvador Dali, right?
Some of his early 20th century art was created in order to support the movement against modern capitalistic valuables.
And the red color was chosen on purpose too.
According to Google Arts & Culture Center the color red was used
in several countries in different time periods throughout history as the symbol of fighting for freedoms and liberties.
In Money Heist red jumpsuits also serve as an equalisation element.
In a sarcastic way, though, as both the hostages and the robbers wear them.
This image of a man wearing a red jumpsuit and Dali mask became SO memorable
that even criminals all over the world started to use it during robberies!
And not only criminals - rebels at different political protests used the masks and jumpsuits too.
In July 2019, the people of Puerto Rico congregated in the streets wearing the same
suits and masks and demanded the local governor to resign.

Yes. The show creators always considered this song as part of their triune rebel symbolism.
It may surprise many American fans but this song is a big deal for European people.
Especially for Italians. Why? Well, let's see...
If you were attentive enough you may have noticed that Bella Ciao plays during key moments of the show.
We hear it for the first time in the scene where Paco Tous’ character Moscow reaches soil while digging the exit tunnel from the Royal Mint.
Though the song has its screenplay arc much earlier: in the very first episode. That’s right.
When the Professor explained his plan to the Heist team, he remembered his grandfather who fought against fascist Italy.
And “Bella Ciao” or “Goodbye Beautiful” is a famous Italian folk song,
which was the anthem for the anti-fascist resistance
AND soon after that it became famous worldwide as a hymn of liberty!

Though the song was originally created sometime before World War 2 by Italian women who worked hard in the fields and wanted to lift their spirits,
its lyrics were later changed in order to capture the partisans fight against fascism.
Show creators INDEED put some hidden meaning between the lines in Money Heist. No doubt.
