Dubblefilm Bubblegum Review - "Sweet Nostalgia"
Our Dubblefilm Bubblegum review compiles the comments, recommendations and feedback from the community - with technical tips from Dubblefilm - to give you an excellent overview of Bubblegum's strengths and weaknesses!

Dubblefilm Bubblegum 35mm is a 'creative' film that has a pre-exposure tint applied to the film emulsion to subtly shift some of the colours in your image while shooting.
Bubblegum's tints tend towards subtle purples, pinks and blues - particularly in the shadows - and the best images from the community show this really clearly! With portraits and street photography where our eye 'knows' what to expect and therefore sees the tint immediately, photographers talk about the 'sweet nostalgia' and 'beautiful warmth' that the film delivers.
The best tips for getting strong results are simple: (1) don't overexpose the image, as this will dominate the tint entirely and you won't get the effect you wish (2) make sure that when you or your lab scan the negatives you *don't* apply any automatic colour correction! Automated colours can be wonderful when you're bulk scanning regular colour negative film, but the software is rarely set up for Dubblefilm emulsions - so it will be confused by the tint and either remove it entirely or force the entire image the other way which turns the highlights a strange green.
Personally I'm going to aim Dubblefilm at some friends and families to get lovely warm portraits, as well as (if it's going to be sunny) taking it for a walk - pointing at landscapes or street while ensuring I don't overexpose :-)
