Motions heard in Jake Wagner's murder case in Pike County

WAVERLY, Ohio (WKRC) -- Jake Wagner returned to court for the latest round of motions hearings in his murder case. The judge heard arguments on approximately 40 motions.

Jake, his brother, George, and their parents, Billy and Angela, are charged with murdering seven members of the Rhoden family and Hannah Gilley in 2016.

The motions mostly dealt with what could be included or excluded during the trial and what language can be used. For example, there are two phases to a death penalty trial, often referred to as the guilt and mitigation phases.
