Dodgers News: Shohei Ohtani Reacts to Leadoff Homer and Grinding Through Padres Start | ドジャース

Shohei Ohtani spoke with the English media after pitching five innings against the Padres and launching a leadoff home run to begin the game.

Ohtani admitted he did not feel fully comfortable entering the start and said his overall pitching performance was not at the level he expects from himself.

“I didn’t really feel that great.”

The Dodgers superstar discussed:

Ohtani also explained that as a starting pitcher, preventing runs carries more weight mentally than hitting a home run.

“If a starter throws six or seven scoreless innings, most of the time you’re going to win.”

The Dodgers two-way star added that games with playoff intensity are the best test of a pitcher when they are not feeling completely sharp physically.
