Why I Hate the ATA

I so despise some of the governing bodies in the trucking industry, especially the American Trucking Association.
In a recent article, the FMCSA states that their studies show what we in the industry have known all along... that experienced professional drivers are less apt to have an accident. Driving experience usually produces a safer driver.
Yet in the same breath, they mandate a new driver driver training policy, where NO behind the wheel time is required for new CDL drivers.
The ATA managed to get the mandatory behind the wheel hours for new trainees, thrown out! And they are all about safety? Never.
It's money which motivates the American Trucking Association, in bed with the mega carriers!
They are not concerned with driver safety nor the safety of the driving public. It's money that drives the ATA!
