Top 10 Jane's Addiction Bass Lines

One of my favorite bands of all time and a big influence on me from the earliest days of The Shrinky Dinx (Pre-Sugar Ray). Eric Avery was an innovator on bass. He would do simple but nuanced lines that would anchor the entire song. They just blew me away when I heard their first album on XXX Records, the live one recorded at The Roxy. It was so raw and honest. Like nothing I'd ever heard before. They had the ability to be extremely heavy but also spin out the most tender moment you've ever heard, and Eric's bass lines were at the root of that dynamic.
