Rusted Finnish Axe Billnäs "Kemi" 12/2. Restoration.

Cleaning of an axe head. Rusted Billnäs "Kemi" model number 12/2 from 1940s.
At first I apply fluid for removing rust and I use a wire cup brush.
Surface conditioning flap discs I use for cleaning, leveling and light deburring. I don't touch the cutting edge. This axe was in use as splitting axes. So the shape should be corrected a bit. I am going to use this axe as a carpenter's axe.
I correct a shape of the poll using a sanding disk.
I use the rust remover sponges to take off the remnants of rust from surfaces.
For polishing I use a felt flap polishing disc and a polishing compound. According to the old catalogues about 3 - 5 cm (about one - two inches) should be polished. I am marking the spot I am going to polish more in a future on a final stage.
The sharpenning I will make on a water cooled grinder and finishing on a leather belt.
During the whole working process the axe shouldn't be hot. The temperature of metal should be under control all the time. Otherwise, if temperature will be too hot, the blade can be damaged and the axe will lost its quality.
Also it is very important to remember about safety instrucions.
