In this The Day That Never Comes Guitar Lesson video, I will show you how to play this killer song by Metallica off of their Death Magnetic album note-for-note.

The tuning is standard tuning.

I will go through each section of the song in the order that it appears on the original recording.

For many of the sections, you will have multiple guitar parts being played. I will go through is section and typically teach the rhythm guitar parts first, followed by any melodies, fills or solos.

There is also an extended harmony guitar section that consists of an underlying rhythm guitar part with a two-guitar harmony on top of it. I will show you each part even though in a live situation, Hetfield plays the lower harmony part and Hammett plays the high harmony part without any rhythm guitar.

This is obviously a very involved lesson since there is just so much cool guitar work and the song lasts almost 8 minutes long. As I go through the lesson, if there is any question as to where a certain part I am teaching occurs in the song, I will let you know the exact minute and second mark it occurs on the original recording so that you don't get lost.
