Copenhagen - Christiana walking tour - 4K - (Hippie community/Frozen lake/Chased by dog)

Christiana is mainly known by the Pusher Street (where the cannabis is sold like cotton candy on the permanent stands) but it is actually a gentrified military area covering 7.7 hectares and hosting a pretty cool community.

During this walk, we tend to explore the south part of Christiana, starting from Christianshavns Vold (a lovely park) where we get a pretty nice sight of a Copenhagen trademark: Vor Frelsers Kirke (Church of Our Saviour – a baroque church famous for its helix spire that projects one of the most spectacular views of Copenhagen). We walk near the frozen lake towards to the old military housing (turned into living areas) and beautiful cabin houses. After we pass the Dyssebroen (the bridge that connects both sides of Christiana – remembered for its summer gatherings), we briefly get chased by the smallest dog in the world 😊 We finish at the other end, which connects Christiana to Holmen.

Everybody knows that it is hard to get accommodation in Copenhagen, but it is even harder in Christiana. Housing availability depends on a house resident to move out of Christiana or be deceased, then you have to wait in a long line where you get interviewed by your fellow neighbors. If you pass the interview, all you need to do is to grab your luggage and move one of the most unique places in the world.
