Brisbane's Flood History 1974-2011
"Brisbane's Flood History 1974-2011" is a video showcasing a series of powerful images of the floods that have rocked our city and our state over the last 37 years.
It also pays a special tribute to the volunteers and heroes that showed true Queensland Spirit in helping those around them that were affected by the devastation, including the Police, Ambo's, Firerys, The Army, SES, helicoptor pilots and complete strangers lending a helping hand, from here, interstate and around the globe. Where would we have been without your enourmous sacrifice? We salute you and thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
The soundtrack features LIVE'S - Run to the Water, which became the unofficial anthem to the Flash Flood of Friday March 9, 2001, on Brisbane Radio Station - FM104.5 Triple M. The song became such a moving and powerfully emotional track for many Brisbane residents, that for many years after the flood, Triple M would not play the song. Finally, when the song did play on the station, the Triple M switchboard lit up from hundreds of Brisbanites, thanking the station for returning the much loved song to its playlist.
In closing, as the end of the video clearly states, no matter what happens, no matter how bad things get, no matter how much mother nature tries to break our spirit: NOTHING BEATS QUEENSLAND!!
