Galen Marek (pronounced /ɡeɪlən ˈmæɹɛk/), codenamed "Starkiller", was a human male Force-sensitive who served as the personal assassin of the Sith Lord Darth Vader. Starkiller goes through a lot of moral battles as the game's story progresses, eventually faced with the idea of himself consumed by the dark side, just like Vader. That, combined with his vision of Vader on Kashyyyk and the realization that he followed Vader because that is all he knew, eventually helped Marek turn to the light side and complete his redemption.

Juno Eclipse was heartbroken to learn that Marek sacrificed his life in order to cover their escape. The Jedi General Kota simply expressed his belief in Marek's capacity for redemption, and also revealed to Eclipse that she was the ultimate catalyst for the secret apprentice's conversion to the light side of the Force.
