Calming Hibernation Rain Sleep Noise | Deep & Low Winter Bass for Restorative Sleep | 12 Hours
One thing I realised after making Hibernation Noise… hibernation probably doesn’t happen in perfect silence.
If you imagine a bear tucked away somewhere warm and hidden from the world, there’s probably still something happening outside. Wind. Water. Rain falling somewhere in the distance while everything inside stays slow and still. And that’s what led to this version.
If you heard the original, you’ll know it was built around the idea of metabolic downshift. That natural slowing of the system when the body feels safe, warm and relaxed enough to stop bracing and conserve energy. My attempt at creating the sound of settling into a winter den.
This time though, I wanted to see what would happen if I wrapped that same deep, insulated foundation in rainfall.
Because rain does something interesting. It adds movement without adding urgency. It fills the space without demanding attention. It creates a kind of gentle boundary between you and everything outside.
Here’s a reminder of the original layers beneath the rain:
Deep Slumber Rumble:
A warm, steady rumble that feels like the cavern itself is resting, forming a deep, cocooning backdrop for sleep.
Winter Hum:
Low, steady earth resonance suggesting the ground gradually settling and settling again as winter quiets everything, wrapping you in a soft, protective hush.
Torpor Hush:
A continuous, gentle, enveloping sound that feels like the cave air itself has settled into stillness, creating a calm, insulated atmosphere.
For this version, I softened and reshaped those layers so they sit beneath rainfall recorded here in Kent. The deeper rumbles were smoothed further into the background while the rain became the outer shell of the soundscape, creating something that feels slightly more open but somehow even more enclosed at the same time.
Still deep. Still heavy. Still very much built for proper bear-mode sleep.
So if you need to disappear into your own little den tonight and let the weather do the thinking for a bit, maybe this one fits.
Sleep looooooong and sleep well, my friends 🐻
MADE USING: Kent rainfall recordings, fabric scratching, low frequency rumble layers, sub bass tones, winter atmospheric textures, MIDI keyboard, ambient smoothing
