Hidradenitis Suppurativa is a chronic destructive inflammatory disorder that can cause deep pockets and sinus tracts in the skin that can lead to bacterial super infections (although only 50% of cultures actually grow bacteria) This condition can be very challenging to control and involves multi-faceted approaches of diet, weight loss, smoking cessation, multiple medications, and sometimes surgical intervention that can be utilized. This patient came to my office in obvious severe pain. Our goal today was to relieve that pressure and fluid build up and start her on a treatment regimen. We will follow up closely and likely need to drain again in the near future. Large abscess pop and drainage today. Patient could breath easier instantly after procedure. MrPopZit.
