$1000 BOAT NOODLE EATING CHALLENGE! | 100 Bowls Eaten?! | INSANE Noodle Eating Record!

For this episode, we headed down to That Aroi Mookata to attempt a 100-bowl Thai Boat Noodle Challenge! Recently opened at a cozy location in Ang Mo Kio, That Aroi specialises in Thai cuisine with an emphasis on Mookata, a steamboat-grill fusion concept. Through my good friend Steven, they challenged me to complete 50 bowls of their Thai Boat Noodles (at $1 per bowl) within 1 hour to win a $1000 donation to a charity, Lions Befrienders. Using my attempt as a guide, That Aroi has decided to offer a challenge to the public - details below.

Thai Boat Noodles can come as a small one-bite dish like in That Aroi. Each bowl consisted of noodles, either rice vermicelli or egg noodles, pork balls, pork liver, ground pork and richly flavoured broth. Normally, I can one-bite your usual mini bowls of Boat Noodles, but even at $1, these bowls were considerably filled. Piping hot, the bowls were delicious. The broth was bright and vibrant, enhancing every ingredient added to the bowl. The noodles eagerly absorbed all the flavour. The pork bits filled the compulsary protein aspect, with the liver being especially notable as it gave a distinct "iron-y" tang. They offer a special in-house chilli to the bowls which Steven said elevated the dish even further.

I finished 50 bowls in under 20 minutes and completed the 100 bowl challenge in 51 minutes, securing $1000 for the elderly in Singapore courtesy of That Aroi. Taste fatigue set in rather quickly and it was a good push towards the end. That Aroi is a family-owned business and it would not be an uncommon sight to see a bulk of the family helping out. They serve a lot more than Boat Noodles, with their Mookata being an excellent choice for family dining now that restrictions have been relaxed again.
