Bridalveil Falls Travel Guide - Yosemite National Park | California Travel Tips
California Travel Tips host Veronica Hill offers a guide to Bridalveil Falls in Yosemite National Park.
Bridalveil Fall, called Pohono by the Native Americans, means "Spirit of the Puffing Wind."
Located in Yosemite National Park, Bridalveil waterfall is fed by Ostrander Lake and often appears to be falling sideways in a swirl of mist. The native Ahwahneechee Indians believed that inhaling the fall's mist could lead to marriage, which might explain why Yosemite weddings are so popular.
Plunging 617 feet into the valley, this is one of the first Yosemite waterfalls you'll see from Tunnel View. It's one of the only falls that runs year-round, and it's a short 1/4-mile hike to the Vista Point. Most Yosemite waterfalls deposit into the Merced River, which flows throughout Yosemite Valley. You can raft here in the summer, and fishing is allowed between late April and mid-November.
