Restoring an Antique Ship Saw - SAILCARGO INC.
A few months ago a strange and beautiful beast arrived at the Jungle Shipyard - an antique Ship Saw! Finally, after months of complex renovation and customisation, it's being put to work cutting and shaping Ceiba's wooden frames.
Basically, it's a VERY large band saw - weighing in at around 2.5 tons - with an adjustable blade angle for cutting variable bevels onto curved ship's frames. This is by far the most unusual and eye-catching piece of shipyard equipment we have so far, and it required lots of tinkering (including re-purposing an old motorbike engine) to get it back into working order, over 90 years since it was first made.
