The City of Widows in India | METROPOLIS

Vrindavan in India is also called the "city of widows. Here you can go as an old woman if no one wants to take care of you or if you are disowned and disinherited. By now there are about 25,000 widows.

Metropolis is a video project by Dutch broadcast organizations HUMAN and VPRO, that started in 2008. Metropolis is made by a global collective of young filmmakers and TV producers, reporting on remarkable stories from their own country or city.
