Oil painting for absolute beginners - how to work with a grisaille
In this last part of her beginners course, artist Evi Steiner-Böhm will show you the traditional method of an underpainting, namely with a grisaille. A grisaille looks like a black-and-white photograph and was done to build up the forms in a painting. This saved time and money, as some pigments were expensive in the times of the old masters, i.e. from the 14th to the 18th century.
