AMAZING 15+ MINUTES of Melbourne Airport Plane Spotting | March 2018 Highlights!

Featured Aircraft: A330s, A350s, A380s, B717s, B747s, B777s & B787s

The biggest highlight of March was the delivery of Qantas' fourth B787 dreamliner which wears the special indigenous themed livery. its first visit to Melbourne was right at the start of the month and flew terrifically timed domestic flights for plane spotters.

Other highlights include:

Avalon Airport had 12 B747 freighters flying in and out of the airport which delivered the cars and equipment for this years international grand prix. Although the majority of them operated at night, there were a few that made an appearance in daylight. Air Bridge Cargo's sunrise takeoff right at the beginning of the video is by far the most notable. A couple of Hornets were also based at Avalon on the Grand Prix weekend for their flyover.

March marks the final month of the Emirates 777s flying into Melbourne. The EK408/9 flight was upgraded to an A380 which now makes all 3 daily flights into Melbourne operated by their flagship aircraft.

Throughout the month, a couple of last minute equipment swaps lead to Emirates & Etihad's B777-200LRs flying into Melbourne on a couple of flights.

Malaysia Airlines' Airbus A380 payed Melbourne a visit. It replaced the A330-300 for a day on the MH149/8 flight.

SriLankan Airlines' Airbus A330-200 wearing the "OneWorld" titles made its first appearance.

The QantasLink 717s have all been replaced on Melbourne routes by 737s. March marks the final month to have caught them at here indefinitely.

Qantas changed a lot of Melbourne flights around this month.
They've increased flights to Auckland and upgraded 2/4 daily services to A330-200 aircraft.
QF9/10 to London no longer flies to London via Dubai. It now flies via Perth instead and has downgraded to a B787.
With the freed up A380s, they have upgraded the QF35/6 Singapore flight with them and used the freed up A330 from that to make their second QF37/8 Singapore service to operate daily.

China Airlines upgraded their 3x weekly A330 service from Taipei to A350s. They are Melbourne's 4th A350 operator.

Qatar Airways' A380 service received a rare 12 hour delay which resulted in an early morning arrival and daylight departure instead of the standard night slots they usually use.

FlyScoot began addition flights to Singapore. The new TR24/5 service operates at night which compliments its 5x weekly day service.

A honourable mention for the month was FedEx's MD11F which diverted from Sydney. I wasn't able to get any footage of it but its certainly worth mentioning because the MD11s are as rare as it gets to see at Melbourne.
