Why do we blow the shofar on the Feast of Trumpets (Yom Tru'ah)?
The shofar is an incredible spiritual instrument which is blown for many reasons: to call people to assembly, to sound an alarm, to gather troops to battle, to petition God to aid in a battle; to celebrate a simcha (joyous occasion), and to bring breakthrough and victory like Joshua at Jericho! But the most important reason of all to blow the shofar is to announce that the DAY OF THE LORD IS AT HAND and we need to make ourselves ready. The King is coming. Yeshua the Messiah will soon return with a great shout (tru'ah) and the blast of the shofar.
