BLOOMBERG PHILANTHROPIES WORK WITH ISRAELI SETTLER COLONIES IN THE WEST BANK SUBJECT OF BOYCOTT

More than 260 British artists, playwrights, actors, and cultural workers have signed an open letter calling on five major theatre companies, the National Theatre, the Royal Shakespeare Company, the Royal Court Theatre, the Young Vic, and the Almeida Theatre, to end their partnerships with Bloomberg Philanthropies. The campaign, organized by Artists for Palestine UK, argues that the theatres should reconsider accepting support from Bloomberg Philanthropies because of the foundation’s ties to institutions in Israel and the occupied West Bank.

One Bloomberg Sagol trainee, Yisrael Ganz, leads the Yesha Council, one of the most ardently Zionist organizations representing Israeli settlers in the occupied West Bank. Another program participant, Oshrat Gani Gonen, publicly praised Israeli military operations in the West Bank after touring units involved in the campaign. The military occupation and connected settler activities have been deemed illegal under UK law.
