MATAPAN: The Untold Stories

March 27-29, 1941: Albacores and Swordfish scramble to slow the Italian fleet, allowing Admiral Cunningham's battleships to engage. Here veterans recall their roles in how the fleet was found, tracked and brought to battle. The Battle of Matapan, which saw the Italian navy brought to action by the Royal Navy, was much more than the brief night action most know about. The aircraft carrier HMS Formidable was just as instrumental in the action as the battleships HMS Warspite, Valiant and Barham.
