The World and Our Body are Not Before Our Eyes | Dalila Burin | TEDxTohokuUniversity

Have you ever thought that the feeling of owning your body is way more complex than you think? Have you ever considered the possibility that our world, as we see it, is an elaboration of our own mind? With clues from multisensory illusions and examples from neuropsychological disorders, Dalila Burin describes here how the representation of the body and the world in the brain is flexible and complex, and it can be easily manipulated or damaged. Dalila Burin is an Assistant Professor at Smart-Aging International Research Center at Tohoku University. She has done her PhD in Neuroscience from the University of Turin, Italy and also been awarded two renowned Italian awards for young researchers in 2016. With a keen interest in the field of research, Dalila likes to discover the HIDDEN phenomenon and explore them. She loves riding bikes, water sports such as swimming and surfing, and is a foodie. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
