G0768 Compound Modification

After spending quite a bit of time thinking about how I could create a better solution for adjusting the compound angle on my Grizzly G0768 lathe I finally got a clue on the solution by watching one of my favorite YouTube channels - MrPete222 AKA Tubalcain. Check out his channel here - https://www.youtube.com/user/mrpete222 He was taking apart a compound on one of his lathes when I saw the dovetail shaped pin on the compound swivel plate. After taking careful measurements I decided to make the part I needed and modify the compound mounting block to the point of no return. I'm not certain but I have to assume that many of the small Chinese lathes have the same compound adjustment design as the G0768 and if so maybe this video will help you if you decide to gamble on doing the upgrade to your lathe.
