Mars Perseverance Rover Latest Images of Aberlady Rocks and Bagnold Dunes in Mars Planet on Sol 141|NASA Mars Mission 2021 Latest News

On 13th July 2021:-
This view from the Mast Camera on NASA's Mars rover shows a deep sand dune in the middle distance.The Rover's investigation of the dunes leading to the higher layers of Mount Sharp will be the first in-place study of active sand dune anywhere other than Earth.This view ties together several images taken by the rover on Mars during the 1115th Martian day.The dunes on the rover's route are part of a band of dunes called the "Bagnold Dunes" on the northwest edge of Mount Sharp, the dune region evident as a dark band in orbital images of the area inside Gale Crater.The dunes are larger than wind-blown waves of sand or dust that Curiosity and other rovers have seen before, and the mound that Curiosity will examine in the coming days will be as tall as a two-story building and as wide as a football field.The waves on the surface of these Martian dunes are larger than the waves on the surfaces of sand dunes on Earth. The MOST camera on NASA's Mars Curiosity rover captured this set of images beforehand and after drilling a rock called "Aberlady."It appears that when the drill was withdrawn, the rock and others in the vicinity were shaken. It was the first time Curiosity drilled into the long-awaited "clay-bearing unit."
