Phobia of toilets - AUTO-SYPHON UNIT big examination

How does this Auto-Syphon unit work? It's more complicated that you think, and its the reason for my phobia of water tanks!

WHY DO I HAVE A PHOBIA OF WATER TANKS???
It's not actually the tank of water I'm afraid of, it's the automatics (especially ball values).
This is similar to my phobia of lifts when I was a kid - it's the "NOT SEEING" the actual machine and what's making the noise, and that perhaps relates to our primal fear of the unknown that's in all of us.
Ball valves in a dark tank. You have to make an effort to 'uncover' the monster inside - Mostly the ball is bright coloured (orange) so you'll see it, before you see anything else. But in appearance, it's limescaley and HISSES when it moves or desturbed accidentally.
From the outside, the 'automatics' are invisible but things are happening! You can hear it but you can't see it. For a urinal tank, you cannot see 'when' the flush will occur - "is the tank empty, or full right now?".
The dripping varies in pitch and volume. In fact, the fuller the tank, less distance for the drips to fall and it's quieter - this gives you a false sense of security as your attention is not drawn towards it.
You're aware it MIGHT, and then it DOES and you get NO WARNING!! ...The tank and pipes rush into action, whoosh, it's loud, you're standing right in front of it and you can't escape. Whoosing and gurgling of what's going on in the tank, as if the tank wants to let you know.
Panic sets in, it's too late to escape (especially if you're still standing at the urinal!). Eyes tightly shut, hands pressed hard against my ears, keep moving them to create a rustling noise to prevent me hearing the room at all.
When I'm sure, I release my ears and the situation has ended. But the dripping is now louder than before as the drips travel further into the tank - a warning from the tank to 'GET OUT' and it now wants to be heard.
I run out trying to plan every step, including pulling the door handle down and opening the door at the same time as I'm moving towards it.
Outside the room I casually walk away, but with my heart beating out of my chest!
YES, I HAVE A FEAR OF WATER TANKS!

DEFINITION OF A PHOBIA:
A persistent, irrational fear of a specific object, activity, or situation that leads to a compelling desire to avoid it".
So "irrational" really is the key word here and I suppose unless you have a phobia of something, then it's difficult to understand. Perhaps a spider is similar? Most cannot hurt you or want to harm you. My water tank phobia cannot hurt or harm me, but both the spider and water tank can frighten you with a sudden unexpected action. When you experience this as a kid, then it can live inside you as a phobia.
