How to internalise the beat for Solo Jazz and Lindy Hop improvisation using a drum loop

One of the most important skills to develop as a dancer, if you want to feel free in your improvisation, is your ability to internalise the beat of the song you're listening to. After just listening to a few bars of the song, you want to form an expectation or an anticipation of when the next beat will be and not lose track of that feeling while dancing.

In this video, Ali takes you through one of his favourite exercises that you can use to develop your ability to internalise the beat.

We also want to give a shout out to my friend An Duc Dang from Berlin who introduced us to this idea many years ago.

It's really easy for you to take advantage of our online program because it comes with our 100% money back guarantee so you can try it out risk-free. Also, our courses are follow-along videos with practice time, so you only need to press play and just enjoy the ride.
