The Black Hole Ring — Now in Polarized Light

The Event Horizon Telescope Collaboration has released new, high-detail views of M87*, the supermassive black hole at the center of galaxy M87.
But this time, it’s not just about the glowing ring.
These images track polarized light — light waves aligned in specific directions.
Why does that matter?
Because polarized light carries information about magnetic fields near the event horizon.
The new data reveals:
• Strong, organized magnetic field structures
• Clues about how plasma flows near the black hole
• Insights into how powerful relativistic jets are launched
Magnetic fields may be the key to understanding how matter falls in — and how some of it escapes at nearly the speed of light.
We’re no longer just seeing the shadow of a black hole.
We’re seeing the physics at its edge.
