Should You See the FUTURE? – Kabbalah on Fortune Telling

Fortune tellers are people who claim that they can foresee the future, such as Nostradamus who is well known and who some claim was of Jewish descent. There were others too. For example, a Jewish Polish by the name of Wolf Messing, born in Poland, and who moved to Russia, had extraordinary abilities. He predicted his own death accurately, and even warned Stalin's son, who heeded his words, not to take the flight he was scheduled on, and as it turned out the airplane crashed. In Israel, a lady predicted more than a year ago that Bennett would become prime minister, at times when such an option seemed completely absurd.

Such an ability undoubtedly exists. They feel time because, all in all, time is a function of what a person feels. Time does not exist outside of a person. It exists inside the person and if a person rises above his ego, then he can see even more. There is no way of telling who has this genuine ability and who is a charlatan. However, the difference between them is vast. One speaks the truth out of his own attainment and from within the boundaries of his attainment in which he knows and understands how limited he is. And the other person either believes that what he sees is true or that he's lying to himself.

People who have these forces, which exist, obtain them from nature. One can rise to this level. The ability to see the future is in the ability to rise above our ego to the extent to which we are able to correct ourselves. From wanting to see what is and what is not beneficial to oneself and humanity, and to truly become concerned about it.

It is not advisable to seek out any knowledge pertaining to one’s future. You must reach a state whereby no matter what happens, you will assume responsibility for your life, after all, it is your life. In Judaism, magic and fortune-telling are forbidden, because they deprive a person of free choice. As people, we must think that we have free choice, such that we oversee our own lives.

In the Tanakh, there's the Book of Prophets. There seems to be a basic difference between someone that can naturally tell the future, like Messing and others, and a prophet that investigates the future. Both work on completely different levels. There are those that, through their inner work, by their own efforts, by purifying themselves, by cleansing their will to receive of all its egoistic intentions, can see above time, space, and motion. Those that are still in their egoistic intentions, but that, nonetheless, somehow discover these things, they too, can rise a bit above their ego.

Today, anyone can do various philosophical or mystical tricks that are completely unrelated to the truth. In conclusion, the best and most certain future for ourselves is through positive connection and increasing closeness with others.
