The IDEAL 61-747 TightSight Clamp Meter is an auto ranging true RMS digital clamp meter that measures current up to 400 Amps AC or DC via the clamp head.
It is UL certified and is CAT III 600 volt safety rated.
Have you ever had to measure a circuits current draw in a confined, dimly lit and hard to reach location where reading the display of a standard clamp meter is a hassle? The IDEAL TightSight Clamp Meter allows the user to safely clamp around a conductor and view current measurements with the exclusive second TightSight display in the bottom of the tester. It lets you easily take readings and eliminates the need to bend or twist conductors or place your head near or in the panel and it provides you with a safe and easy-to-read bottom display when taking measurements.
Both displays are large 4000 count displays that can be backlit, and the built-in flashlight can be used to illuminate a work area when working in poor or low lighting conditions.
It measures up to 600 volts AC or DC and frequency and using the select button can toggle between testing continuity, resistance, capacitance, and diodes via the test-leads and measures temperature via a K-Type thermocouple that is included.
It detects the presence of voltage between 40 to 600 volts AC via a non-contact sensor built into the tip of the clamp. Simply rotate the dial to NCV and the letters EF will show in the display. Then hold the tester near a hot conductor like this receptacle to indicate if voltage is present, the red LED in the center of the meter will flash and the beeper will sound.
The tester uses the same red LED to notify you when the voltage being measured is above 30 volts. In addition to the red light illuminating and staying on as long as the voltage is above 30 volts, the meter will emit a short audible tone, and show a lightning bolt in the left hand side of the display to indicate the potential requirement that personal protective equipment should be used when making measurements in certain applications.
This meter features HOLD, MIN/MAX, Relative, Range, and selectable Auto Power Off functions. It comes with three 1.5V AAA Batteries and an easy open, fully accessible storage pouch with a belt loop that allows for storage.
The clamp head has a built-in probe tip holder on the backside of the right clamp to allow measurements holding the clamp in one hand while holding the second lead in the other hand.
Note that the CAT III safety rating of the tester is lowered to a CAT II rating when the protective caps are removed. Always replace them after testing a standard outlet to reduce the chances of inadvertently shorting two conductors with exposed metal tips.
The meter has a hanging strap mount that allows for a hanging strap which is sold separately to be attached to the meter so it can be hung from a nail, screw, or magnetic surface. And the industrial grade over molding enhances gripping and allows the meter to withstand a 6.6-foot (2 m) drop.
The 61-747 TightSight Clamp Meter is a rugged tester for everyday use that can be used in residential, commercial, or industrial electrical applications.
Thanks for watching folks please read and fully understand the instruction manual before using this tester I’m Ron with IDEAL I’ll see you on the next one.
