Discovering the Aral Sea and Turkestan - Road trip around Kazakhstan (part 2)

On the 5th day of our roadtrip through Kazakhstan, we arrive in Zhalanash, a small town in the middle of the desert. 40 years ago this town was on the coast of the Aral Sea, one of the four biggest lakes in the world. But the Aral Sea shrank and almost disappeared! We went on an expedition to find out what happened to the sea and found a ship graveyard. Our expedition also lead us to the abandoned port of Aral where we saw more ship wrecks. The day after we continued our journey towards Turkistan where we visited the mausoleum of Khoja Akhmet Yassawi, the man who introduced Islam to Central Asia.
