Ford Nugget Plus - Detailed Review and Test Drive at the Stuttgart CMT Show 2020 #vanlife

In this video we show you a detailed view of the Ford Nugget and Ford Nugget Plus (we have a different video showing the Ford Nugget Pop Top here https://youtu.be/y595L4ZB-lQ ). The Nugget was released in RHD in the UK in October 2019, but has been around in Europe, particularly Germany for many years.

It is fairly unique in it's design with the rear L-shaped kitchen and separate seating area, achieving the difficult task of having separate living areas within a small van. It took us a while to appreciate how good the Nugget really is, especially the build quality which is comparable with the California.

There are 3 different Ford Nugget Models. In each model the seating and kitchen areas are the same. The difference is the top and the length, and the additional toilet in the Plus.

Ford Nugget PopTop
Comparable to the California, it sleeps 4 with the pop top, but seats 5. 5m long.

Ford Nugget HighTop
The High Top provides more storage than the PopTop and has more insulation with a fixed top foldaway bed. 5m long.

Ford Nugget Plus
The Nugget Plus is based on the long wheel base Transit Custom - 5.4m long. It has more space and storage, including a fixed toilet and extra sink.

The Ford Nugget comes with a 2.0-litre EcoBlue turbodiesel engine in either 130hp or 185hp. You can choose a 6 speed manual or automatic gearbox.

We particularly like the driving features that you get with a nugget, such as DAB, navigation, reversing camera, heated seats, adaptive cruise control etc.

There are many optional extras you can spec including ambient lighting (LED strips around the floor and walls), additional roof lights and windows, mosquito nets over the doors, hot water boiler, awning, xenon lights etc. They also come in a big range of colours.

What we love about the Nugget:
- It has separate living areas which aren't compromised by each other
- The L-shaped kitchen has more workspace than most bigger vans
- You have an onboard toilet in the Plus which is easily accessible
- The upstairs bed is the most comfortable bed we've tried in a van
- You can walk through from front to back - not achievable in most larger van conversions
- The driving conditions for the whole family are very comfortable and no one is having to sit on an uncomfortable seat
