Red Harlem: How It Was Made

Red Harlem: Director Bernadette Speakes, cast members Ankei Togo and Claudio Parrone talk about how they created this marvelous play written by Kimba Henderson and currently being performed in Boyle Heights.

Basic story is that thousands of Black Americans joined the Communist Party during the Great Depression as their best option inn a horrible situation. The CPUSA and Joseph Stalin's Soviet Union then collaborated to create film called Black and White using Black actors to contest the horrible conditions Black Americans experienced compared to better treatment in Russia.
