Japanese Indigo crop on the brink, trying to avert a borderline disaster with the help of comfrey

I'm seriously hoping I can salvage this year's crop of Japanese indigo. My little seedlings started off with a bang, but ever since they went into the ground, it's been a struggle.
I'm trying out some, hopefully, good advice from my favorite FB Group, Indigo Pigment Extraction Methods, using a 'chop and drop' method with comfrey to enrich and mulch the soil. These FB folks are truly awesome and there's a treasure trove of info relating to all things about growing and processing indigo.
