Looking Back On The Swag Era Of Hip-Hop

Put on your snapback, lace up your Jordans, and get ready for a swaggy nostalgia trip. From about 2011 to 2013, the swag aesthetic took over Hip-Hop. The young, budding rappers of the time turned leagues of youth onto streetwear brands like Obey, Diamonds Supply Co., Mitchell & Ness, and Chicago Bulls(?), spawning what scholars consider to be the most iconic fashion trend on the last decade. But what caused the swagginess to end? This question and more will be answered as we take a trip back to The Swag Era.
