Released in 1981, this became Carnes’ biggest hit on the Hot 100, reaching #1 for nine non-consecutive weeks. It was knocked off the top spot for a single week by the Stars On 45 single, “Medley”. The single came in a tie for the most weeks spent at #1 in 1981, with Diana Ross & Lionel Richie’s “Endless Love”. “Bette Davis Eyes” took #1 on Billboard’s top 100 for the year and #2 for the decade (behind Olivia Newton-John’s “Physical”).
