"A Tree in the Park" is a song by Rodgers and Hart from the Broadway Musical "Peggy Ann" which opened December 27, 1926 at the Vanderbilt Theater and ran for 333 performances. Music by Richard Rodgers, lyrics by Lorenz Hart, book by Herbert Fields, directed by Robert Milton. Cast included Helen Ford and Lester Cole.

Frank Black (1894-1968) was a leading conductor, arranger and pianist on records and radio, specializing in classical and light classical music but equally competent in popular music. He studied piano very early, debuting at 10 as a concert pianist. He enrolled at Haverford College as a chemistry student, but soon found his way to music. As a young man he was a pianist in a Harrisburg, PA hotel. He later worked theatre jobs and served as assistant to musical director Erno Rapee at Philadelphia's Fox Theatre. He was musical director at New York's Century Theatre. By the mid 1920s he began in radio, directing weekly broadcasts in Philadelphia. In 1927 he was the pianist/arranger and coach for popular radio vocal quartet, The Revelers, through the early 1930s. From 1932-1948 he was general musical director of NBC radio. In the early 1930s he began directing the NBC Symphony Orchestra on radio programs. He was the first bandleader on Jack Benny's radio show, 1933-1934, and in the mid 1930s musical director on Radio City Party, The Contented Hour, Coca Cola Show, String Symphony shows. In the late 1930s he began a long series with Cities Service running into the early 1940s. By the early 1950s activities dropped off. During his long broadcast career he worked with almost every singing star of opera and light classics, Broadway and Hollywood musicals, and pop field. He was highly respected by all. He was the composer of serious works: "Bells at Eventide" and "A Sea Tale."
