Driving from Karlovac to Donje Taboriste, Slunj - Croatia (Hrvatska)

Driving to Donje Taboriste in Slunj from Karlovac along highway D1.

This highway is always really busy as most people take it when driving from central parts of Croatia to the Adriatic coast instead of the motorway which is a toll road.
Many times you get stuck behind a truck or a bus for 20-30 kilometers before you can pass.
What further adds to the aggravation are idiot drivers and bikers who drive way too fast, and pass on curves. Consequently, there are collisions and incidents (including fatalities) on it practically every day.
There are police radar units set-up (as well as one photo radar location), but it does not make much difference.

Speed limit is set at either 70 or 80km/h, but there are signs that lower it to 40-50 in many locations.
What's stupid, though, is that there are no signs telling you when the lower speed is no longer in effect (unlike in other parts of Europe), so many times you're not quiet sure whether the max. is 50 or 80.
Dumb!
